Geohydrological and Spatial Solutions International
(Pty) Ltd, trading as GEOSS, aims to be the preferred partner in
the improved utilization, protection and management of groundwater
resources and the natural environment. Appropriate use of spatial
technologies is made to achieve this goal.
GEOSS was founded in March 2001 by geohydrologist and GIS specialist, Julian Conrad. Julian Conrad is the company director and owner of GEOSS.
GEOSS comprises a staff complement of seven. The staff details are provided below.
Technical skills include hydrogeological expertise, GIS expertise,
including web-based GIS mapping, development of monitoring information
systems, computer programming, database design and development,
decision support system and Remote Sensing. Expertise centres around
the use of ESRI and Erdas products. GEOSS also carries out all aspects
of geohydrology, including groundwater exploration, development,
modeling, management and monitoring.

Technical staff:
· Julian Conrad; M.Sc., a geohydrologist. While working for the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) for 11 years, Julian completed a M.Sc. in hydrogeology and GIS at the University of Rhode Island in the USA. In March 2001 Julian established GEOSS. Julian is skilled in groundwater exploration, groundwater development, groundwater monitoring and management.
· Louise Soltau; M.Sc., a hydrogeophysicist ; Louise graduated with a M.Sc. from University of Missouri-Rolla (USA) in 2000. Her strengths lie in all aspects of geophysical work, with specialisation in the field of geophysics and groundwater exploration. She has a wide range of geohydrological skills with regard to contaminant hydrogeology as well.
· Marilie Carstens; (Masters in Environmental Management (cum laude)) is a GIS and Remote Sensing specialist. Marilie has excellent skills in computer programming, database development and data management. These skills are being applied in the field of geohydrology and associated disciplines.
· Dale Barrow; M.Sc. is a a geohydrologist. Dale graduated with a Masters geohydrology degree in 2011 from the Institute for Groundwater Studies, University of the Free State. Dale is responsible for a wide range of groundwater disciplines including geological mapping, borehole siting, geophysical work, drilling and pump testing supervision, hydrocensus work and detailed geohydrological monitoring. Dale has completed projects in numerical groundwater modelling as well and this is a particular focus area and strength of his.
· Candice Lasher; (M.Sc in progress - UWC) a geohydrologist. Candice is responsible for borehole monitoring and management, borehole drilling and pump testing supervision, groundwater sampling and borehole registration and licensing. Candice has developed an excellent knowledge of groundwater use registration and licensing requirements.
